Hello Everyone!

The Alaska Cruise is set for May 14, 2008.  All 14 of us had a great time on our last cruise, so we decided Alaska would be next. Remember we'll have all the updates here.  NO MAILED INVITATIONS. Please let everyone know that is interested.

The Super Saver price $944.25 - $1299.00 per person. Price depends on your choice of state room: Interior, Oceanview or Balcony.  The down payment is $350.00 per person when you place your reservations.  There will be a FULL REFUND if you cancel before February 21, 2008.

Price could change the closer it gets to departure, so book early and save.  Arleta, Jack, Jim and I have already booked the cruise. Passports are required.

Call Michael Alvira 1-800-819-3902 Ext. 82439
Mention: PIN JAN Alaska cruise May 14, 2008 - Ask Michael to send you a Carnival Vacation book.

Alaskan Cruise!  We are going to get one going, but the schedules for 2008 are not ready yet, so we really can't give you any info except the bare bones.   We are looking at some time in the summer of 2008.   For now, we're thinking in terms of a week with ports of call in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan.  Also, we'll  cruise the glaciers.

Each port of call has numerous land activities from which to choose.  Those are not paid for in your cruise but the cruise planners will give you lots of info with prices and you can make your choices through them.

I wish I had prices, dates, etc., but I don't.  Our cruise planner, Michael Alvira will send us that info as soon as the schedules are ready......  we'll pass along the info as soon as we get it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but Jack and I have to start saving our $$$$ so we can go spend it in Alaska!!!

Hope all is well with all of you and that you'll consider going with us on our GREAT ALASKAN ADVENTURE!

Sue Hess was at the cruise meeting and asked if Michael (their son) could present the scholarship.  Of course, that was an easy one to answer.

05/26/05

We have chosen the recipient for Kenny Hess' Scholarship. Her name is Lidia Jiminez. She has been in the U.S. for two years. She is an A student, comes with lots of recommendations from teachers, etc., and is going to study to be an English teacher. She will be attending Imperial Valley College in the fall. She has close to a 4.0 grade point average, and has learned English since she came to the U.S.

The money, ($250.00 per semester), will be sent to IVC to be placed in an account for her use after she has enrolled in a full course of study.  Arleta will try to attend the banquet to present her award, but the banquet has been set for a night that might not work for Arleta.  She has a back-up plan. Javier Ramos, a friend of Kenny's, and the school counselor, has offered to do it for us. Arleta will buy some kind of certificate to award to her with directions on how she can access her award. It's pretty standard stuff and should go smooth.

Lidia has been in college prep and advanced placement classes. She teaches catechism at St. Josephs and works as a volunteer at Holtville Library, teaching reading.

Some more information about Lidia: The Principal of Adult Education reports that she came to the U.S. and of course didn't speak English. For two years she has attended adult school at night to learn the language, and still managed to maintain that high grade point average. From what Arleta has determined, she will be receiving other scholarships.

05/17/05

Yesterday was the closing date for Kenny's scholarship.  Arleta will pick up the applications today and will have news on that in the next few days.

05/11/05

More bad news - Glenda (Tounzen) Beeson died Monday evening, 05/09/05. Glenda's funeral is Saturday, 9:00 a.m. at the Christian Church in El Centro. Viewing the night before at Frye Chapel in Brawley.  I checked the IV Press on line but couldn't find an obituary for her.  If anyone has it please email it or the link to me so I can add it to her page.   Click Here.

We have some terrible news - Kenny Hess was killed in an auto accident this morning.  We are trying to put together the details and will post them here when we get them.  Our prayers go out to Kenny's Family.  I've added the Imperial Valley Press article on Kenny.  Click Here.

Notice:  We are coming up short on our commitment to the Country Club.  We had to guarantee 200 people for dinner to get the price we got.  If you know ANYONE that can be convinced to come, please try to get them to come.

We are getting word that some alumni, in other classes, are planning on coming to the dinner/awards portion of the program, but just to visit, not eat, and not pay.  Sorry, but that can't be done.  It is a closed dinner, and if you haven't paid, you can't get in until the dance.

10/27/04

Arleta has payments from classmates that have not submitted their meal choice.  If you haven't told her what meat you want for dinner, you need to do so as soon as possible.

Also, we have classmates that say they are coming, but haven't paid.  We need the payments as soon as possible, as we have to notify and pay the Country Club.  If you are one of these or know someone that is coming, please check with them to make sure they have paid.  If you know someone that has not committed to come, call them and put the strong arm on 'em.

10/10/04

YAHOO!!!!!!!!! We are finally beginning to see checks and money coming in. We have a lot of classmates that say they are coming. If you are still out there and haven't sent your $$$ you need to do this ASAP. (at least by the end of October).

The latest to send money is Elaine Edwards Foulger and Manuel and Sharon Mata. Thanks, guys! Talked to Richard Kamm last week and he is coming. Janet talked to Dan and David Burch. David is coming for sure, not certain about Dan.

Donna Garewal is having a hard time getting things lined up for golf. If you are going to do this, get in touch with her. If it doesn't come together by about October 20th, it will be cancelled.

Jack and I were at Jimmy and Janet's the past few days. We were able to put a few finishing touches on things. Janet has put together the cutest place mats. Get ready though because our senior picture is on them! Yikes!!! Also, we are going to have some of the Holtville Viking Green and Gold throws to give away. No charge, just a drawing. Bless Janet. She always comes up with the neatest ideas.

Gene, if you read this, let me know if there is anything you can see that we need to do. Also, any of the rest of you that are reading this, if you have something you would like to see us do, we are open to suggestions.

Again, our big wish is for everyone to get together and have a good time. As always, if you know or are in touch with any of the undecided's, give them a big shove in our direction.

Hi all! We had a great meeting on Sunday the 26th. There was a big crowd of "planners" to put the final touches on the reunion and from the looks of things, this is going to be a biggie.

Janet and I both have been in contact with fellow classmates from all over the United States. It's so neat to hear those familiar voices on the phone, or receive an email. The latest to respond are Eddie Bisgaard, Ken Hess, Bobby Ansiel, Gary Bolin, & Keith Gibbs. I know there are many of you who are planning to attend because you've either emailed or called. Just be sure you get your money in before too long and let me know your food choice (chicken or beef).

Also, if you are going to play golf, Donna Garewal needs to hear from you ASAP.

Again, if you are in contact with any of our classmates, let them know that we would really like to see them and urge them to contact either myself or Janet.

See you all at the reunion.

06/28/04 Our next meeting is scheduled for 1:00 PM, 09/26/04 at Celia's Restaurant.
06/26/04

We edited several names in the database to show some of those coming to the reunion.  Arleta says that some are verbal commitments and that not all have signed up.  Everyone needs to contact Arleta or Janet as soon as possible, to confirm whether or not you're coming.  We will set a future deadline for paying, but we'd like to start getting the information on the site so people can get an idea who's coming.  We will be starting a phone blitz soon to get a feel for who's coming.  This thing is really starting to take shape.  It would be great if everyone from the Class of '64 could make it.

06/19/04 New Schedule

November 27, 2004 - Barbara Worth Country Club
Morning  - Golf Tournament - Donna Garewal setting up the tournament.
5:00 - 7:00 PM - Cocktails
7:00 - 8:00 PM - Dinner
8:00 PM - 1:00 AM - Dance - Open to the public.
November 28, 2004- Holtville City Park
Picnic at the Park for your entire family (kids, grandkids, etc.).  Pot luck. Time probably announced at the reunion.

06/19/04

There WILL NOT be another letter.  Stay tuned online and we will get all the info out to you that way.  Other than what we sent the past few days, there is only one addition/change.

The Class of '64 will meet at 5:00 PM at the CC for cocktails and a getting reacquainted hour.  All of the classes combined will have ANOTHER cocktail hour from 6:00 to 7:00.  (Are you with us so far??)  Dinner will be at 7:00 not 6:00 as we told you previously. Dance will start at 8:00.  Nothing like a little confusion to wake everyone up.

Get the word around and get your $$ to me with your choice of chicken or beef for dinner.  I'll keep everyone posted and you all could help by getting the word to other classmates who are not online with us.  Call or email Arleta if you have questions.

06/18/04

1. A block of rooms has been set aside at the BWCC, but they are having many activities that weekend so they want reservations ASAP. Double queen is $74 and King is $84. That price does not include all the extra "stuff" they add on. (taxes, room fees, etc.)

2. The reunion will run from 5:00 to 1:00 - first hour is cocktails and visiting, the rest is the dinner, dance, and program. The dance will be open to the public. Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. At this point we don't think we are going to charge anything for the dance. That's not set in stone, but just a general feeling that we will be financially sound and won't need to charge. Also, no one wants to sit at the table and collect money. Just another loose end to tie up at the end and NO ONE wants that.

3. Donna Garewal is working on the golf tournament. If you are interested, you MUST get your info to her either by email at HDJammers@aol.com or telephone (909) 922-2578. I think she is working part-time so you probably need to contact her in the evening.

4. No portraits. We are looking at candid shots or someone to film (like Angie did the last time). That is not nailed yet, will work on it.

5. Food wise, we are looking at a choice of chicken or beef. If you are online with us, you might send in your choice with your check. There will be another letter going out... (we think) but for the most part, if you haven't sent your $$$$ you need to, and you can tell us your choice of food, also.

6. Kris and Otto have lined up the music. We don't know the name or kind of music, but will check on that. They will play from 6:00 - 1:00. Kris & Otto, if you read this, email Arleta with that information.

7. Lendal will once again bring the Band of Pride, along with flags, banners, and shields. The classes that are represented at the reunion will make a small donation toward a band scholarship.

8. To those of you who have responded and sent your check, THANKS! Everyone we have been in contact with is excited and READY! We think the Class of '64 will be well represented. I'm sure we've left out important info...if you think of anything we are missing, feel free to let us know.

05/28/04 06/12/04, 3:00 PM - Meeting at Celia's in El Centro.  Everyone's invited.

The letter had the wrong phone number for Arleta.  The correct one is in the letters here.  Click above for the corrected version.  Sorry 'bout that!

NOTICE!

Arleta's explanation is correct.  Classes '63, '64, '65 and '66 are invited to everything, with the dance open to other classes than these four.  This site, though, was set up for the Class of '64.  The other three classes will need to coordinate with their respective committee persons, i.e., Donna Garewal for Class of '65, etc.  Please don't think we were excluding you.  We want to see all four classes attend the events, including the picnic on Sunday.  Remember that any references on this site are for the Class of '64 and that you need to check with your respective committee for your particulars.

06/01/03 Well, we had our meeting and here's what we came up with:

November 27, 2004 - Barbara Worth Country Club

5:00 - 7:00 PM - Dinner - Class of '64 Alumni and Spouse/Guest only.
7:00 - ?:?? PM - Dance - Open to the public.
We haven't settled on prices yet.  We will get with Barbara Worth Country Club  for their costs and we'll post the total price here.
