- Well, we did it. The Cruise was an absolute awesome event.
Those of you who elected not to go, really missed a blast.
There were fourteen of us that went from the classes of '60 thru
'64.
We left
Long Beach on Monday, April 24th at 5:00 PM for Catalina Island.
We anchored out at Catalina Island and took small boats called
"tenders" to shore Tuesday morning. While on Catalina Island
we rented two four passenger and one six passenger golf carts and
toured the island. The sights were fantastic. After turning in our carts, we walked the streets and
some shopped while others window shopped or sat around waiting on
the shoppers. (Mostly husbands waiting on wives).
We sailed
from Catalina Island to Ensenada, Mexico and went ashore Wednesday
morning. Jean "Bailey" and Ken Ainsworth retired to Ensenada a
couple years ago, and we met up with them and took a van ride to La
Bufadora "The Blow Hole".
We found a little Restaurant/Cantina named Habana
Banana where we hung out for most of the day. They had a
50's/60's Rock-n-Roll band and Gene, Janet and Jean got up and sang
with them. We also visited the geysers at La Bufadora.
We went to Jean and Ken's house and visited with them for a couple
hours. They have a house right on the beach.
We sailed
out of Ensenada Wednesday night and spent all day Thursday and
Thursday night at sea and then disembarked Friday morning, where we
met Manual and Maria "Santos" Garcia.
Most had to get started
for home, but Terry and Rita Chappell, Gene and Marianne Luker and
Richard and Martha Navarro went to
breakfast and spent a few hours with Manual and Maria at a local
Denny's.
